I’m a software engineer, tech consultant, and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience building technology products and scaling engineering teams.
I started my career in technology in 2010, shortly after graduating from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering. The aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis meant opportunities were limited, so I focused on building personal projects and developing my skills while creating an online portfolio.
Those projects eventually led to my first contract role, and over the next several years I worked as a contractor in London, mainly as a full-stack engineer specialising in Ruby on Rails. I built web applications, RESTful APIs that powered mobile apps, and occasionally mobile applications themselves. Working across different projects and industries gave me broad experience building real products used by real customers.
In 2016, I moved into a permanent role at a fintech company providing loans to small businesses. I joined as a Ruby engineer and later transitioned into data engineering as the company began investing more heavily in its data platform. Over time I moved into technical leadership and eventually engineering management, leading teams and helping scale the company’s data capabilities as the business grew.
In 2024, I decided to take a career break. I travelled, spent more time on hobbies like DJing and cooking, worked on personal projects, explored newer AI technologies, and collaborated with a few past clients.
That time away from full-time work helped clarify what I enjoy most: being hands-on and working directly with entrepreneurs and businesses, helping them turn ideas into real products that solve real problems.
Today, that’s what I focus on — working with founders and businesses launching technology products, while also sharing the experience, frameworks, and lessons I’ve learned over the past 15 years in the industry.
